Goth and Vampire Inspired Nails

I was thinking about other lifestyles that tend to be strongly influenced by music. So next up I tried some more gothic inspired designs. I was mainly inspired by the rose design which I was dying to use. The red base colour is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Right Said Red (I LOVE that name – I have such fond memories of dancing around the house as a little girl to Right Said Fred…I think there should be a partner polish called I’m Too Sexy For My Polish) and the black is Ulta3 Black Satin. For stamping, I used Konad special stamping polishes in black and white. I had wanted to use red but it wasn’t opaque enough over black so it looked brown :(

Pinky – Stamped with a rose design from BundleMonster plate BM14

Ring – Stamped with a whole nail inverse diamond mesh pattern from BundleMonster plate BM208

Middle – Stamped with a cobweb design and a spider design, both from BundleMonster plate BM13 – this came out pretty cool considering I lost half the web.

Pointer – Stamped with small tribal design from BundleMonster plate BM12

Once I was done with some photos, I slapped a layer of Rimmel’s Matte top coat over the top and I think it fitted the theme much better than with a shiny top coat (yes I missed a spot on my pinky so there is still a glossy bit near the cuticle!):

For anyone looking to get into nail art, I think getting a set of dotting tools is a no brainer. They’re one of my favourite tools and can be picked up for about $5 on ebay. They’re really easy to use and with a bit of practice, there are a lot of patterns that can be created using them.

Today I have a really simple manicure where I used Essence Hunt Me If You Can as a base coat – this polish is a black creme with silver glass flecks that came from the Vampire’s Love collection that was released around November last year for Breaking Dawn Pt 1. This polish is a dream to apply, two coats for perfect opacity and applies like butter. I then grabbed Essence In Style – a teal/denim shimmer and dotted random sized dots across the bottom of my ring nail to add some interest. Simple but fun :)

Inspiration

Beginning our second year, Steamcon had a different theme, some aspect of steampunk that we choose to highlight. We work to get appropriate guests, speakers and musicians to further enhance the theme. This year's theme: Victorian Monsters is especially evocative of dark London streets and all the chills they hold. Since the Victorian era gave birth to so many of our classic horror monsters, it seemed a fitting theme to explore. Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man, Jack the Ripper and many more were in their heyday. Given the right steampunk touches, these classic monster tales will live again at Steamcon IV. In order to get you in the mood, we offer some inspiration you to your monstrous best.

Van Helsing: While the movie is entirely too cheesy, the concept is good with a plethora of fabulous monsters and the fantastic weaponry is truly steampunk.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Another movie that chewed far too much scenery but contained new twists on old monsters. We suggest that you go and read the graphic novel, which is far superior.
Captain Swing and The Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island: This graphic novel is Warren Ellis' take on Spring Heeled Jack.

Lady Mechanika: Joe Benitez' sexy paranormal investigator. The art is just sumptuous.

Steampunk Frankenstein's Monster makeup by PepeFx: This look is pretty much perfect.

This is a custom made item, will be made for you in your size and color choice! This is for the skirt, overskirts and bodice. This listing also includes a cape. Cape has a train and is fully lined in crepe back satin and has a hood. We do offer jewelry to go with our gowns as well. This will work for a theme wedding...this can go Renaissance Wedding Gown, Medieval Wedding Gown, Mardi Gras, Victorian, Gothic or Alternative Wedding Gown. Even has a fairy feel!

Trims are available in black, ivory, white, gold or silver. Velvet available in many colors, just let us know what color you are after.

This is shown with a hoop skirt underneath (not included- but available if you need one) You can wear it with a hoop, or an A-line type slip, or without a slip. Skirt is fuller towards the bottom, and has a slight train in back. The waistband is flat and fitted. The bodice laces down the back with grommets. Modesty panel will be inlcuded, so the top is adjustable. Elastic over the shoulders, wear on or off the shoulder. Bodice is boned, and lined in crepe back satin. Sleeves have an underlayer of lace, and the oversleeve has beautiful beaded fringe. Lace around the neckline also. Overskirt is a double layer, lace longer underlayer, shorter velvet overskirt, both are trimmed with venise lace of your choice. Hooks at waistline.
